Dream Come True

Heading into my senior year, I didn’t really expect myself to be in this position. As a kid born in Richmond, Virginia it was always my dream to play college basketball. This has been a dream come true because of the fact that I have a chance to choose where I am going to play college basketball. The support that I have gotten from my family and friends has been unbelievable. My circle is very small and everyone in that circle is my family because I know that they only want what’s best for me. They push me not only to be the best player on the court, but to be the best man I can off the court as well. They just help me stay grounded because at the end of the day we are all striving toward the same goal.

Hoop State

Coming from North Carolina has been great for me as a basketball player, because you get to meet some very good players everywhere you go. North Carolina produces some of the very best talent year in and year out, that’s why it’s called the Hoop State! There’s no better place to grow up playing basketball. The decision for me to stay here in North Carolina at Cox Mill High School all four years wasn’t an easy one at all. These last two years were the hardest as far as whether I wanted to stay or not. At the end of the day, it just came down to me wanting to be around my family before heading off to college.

Aspirations

Milestones for me this season are becoming a 3,000 point scorer, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Cabarrus County history and also becoming a three-time state champion. Finishing out my senior season with a state championship would be great. Just being able to leave on a high note and to leave my mark in North Carolina would be incredible.  To ensure that happens, I am working hard every day to not only better myself, but to better my teammates as well so we can be ready when the time comes.

When I leave high school, I want people to say 'man he’s one of the best players to ever come out of North Carolina.' That’s the sort of legacy I want to leave behind and I think I’m very capable of doing just that.

Final Stretch of Recruitment

On and off the court, I am two different people. When I’m on the court I’m all business, but I’m talking a lot trying to lead my team and trying to do whatever it takes to win. Off the court, I’m pretty quiet unless I get to know you, but other than that I normally just sit back and keep to myself. My time off the court has become that much more important these days with the recruitment process heating up. The process gets to be a lot sometimes, but I see it as a blessing. It was once very hectic in the beginning, but ever since I cut my list I’ve been able to just focus on five schools that way I make sure that I am making the right decision for myself. Not many people have the opportunity to go through what I am going through right now, so I just try to embrace it and look at all the good things that come out of it.

Leaving a Legacy

It’s crazy to think that I start my senior year of high school in a couple of days. Time really does fly, I still remember walking into school as a freshman and now to think I’ll be graduating soon is very exciting, and I can’t wait.  When I leave high school I want people to say “man he’s one of the best players to ever come out of North Carolina.” That’s the sort of legacy I want to leave behind and I think I’m very capable of doing just that.
