HEAD COACH: Boo Williams

2015 EYBL RECORD: 6-11, missed Peach Jam

KEY RETURNEES: Matt Coleman, Devante Carter, Dajour Dickens

2015 Recap:

Following a year in which they made Peach Jam and being such a storied program, last year’s 6-11 finish came as a surprise to many and a disappointment for the program. A roster featuring sharpshooters Deshawn Corprew and Curtis Jones, in addition to current point guard Matt Coleman looked great on paper, but the team never seemed to get in a rhythm throughout the course of the summer.

2016 Outlook:

With a few key pieces returning and an infusion of young talent, Boo Williams (BWSL) should be in prime contention for a spot at Peach Jam. A balanced roster includes depth and versatility at every position, and BWSL is too good of a coach for this squad to miss the Peach two years running. Expect a bounce back year in a big way, and expect Coleman to contend for All-EYBL awards at each session stop.

The Star(s):

Coleman spent the past year at the renowned Oak Hill Academy, 2016 Dick’s Nationals Champs, under legendary coach Steve Smith. That means that while many players were dominating smaller, less athletic opponents all winter, Coleman was facing top programs across the country year-round and couldn’t coast. Aside from his improved skillset, this consistent mindset should bode well for the stud floor general and ultimately, Boo Williams.

The Sleeper(s):

The coaching staff has been singing the praises of KJ Davis. A lanky forward with a terrific motor, Davis has been putting up some big performances during the early spring. With plenty of talented guards to get him the ball and run the floor with, Davis should see plenty of opportunities to show what he’s got. He has ideal size at 6-foot-5, and will be able to impact a game without having a play drawn for him.

The Supporting Cast:

Keldon Johnson is a rising shooting guard in the Class of 2018, and he should be the leading scorer for Boo from Day 1. Johnson is seeing some serious attention from top programs and come July, his ranking should reflect his talent level. Joining him in the backcourt, along with Coleman, will be physical combo guard Tyler Foster. Foster comes over from the UAA Circuit and is another player who can fill it up in a hurry. Providence commit Dajour Dickens helps round out the rotation by giving Boo a post presence and rim protector who can start the break.

The X-Factor:

Given the talent level in the EYBL, the biggest thing for Boo Williams this season to be successful will be bringing a consistent mindset every game. The young core surrounding Coleman is talented, but inexperienced, and he will need to show them how to bring the intensity every minute of every game for this group to return to the Peach Jam field.
